Ford FE 390 428 Pistons

Performance Pistons for the Ford FE Big Block, These FE engines came with a number of strokes and bores size for many different piston combinations. Total Performance lists the common performance piston upgrades for Ford FE 390 428 combinations as well as the FE Stroker combinations. 

A common FE stroker kit will have a 4.250" stroke and use a Big Block Chevy Conrod of 6.700" long (BBC pin too) - this will give you a Compression Heigh (CH) of 1.325"

The common Ford FE engines here in Australia are listed below using a factory 6.490" conrod. See the list below for Compression Heights:

  • FE 390 which came out with a standard piston bore of 4.050" with a stroke of 3.780"  - Compression Height (CH) 1.770"
  • FE 427 which came out with a standard piston bore of 4.230" with a stroke of 3.780"  - Compression Height (CH) 1.770"
  • FE 428 which came out with a standard piston bore of 4.130" with a stroke of 3.980"  - Compression Height (CH) 1.670"
  • FE Strokers will have various bore sizes 4.xxx" with a stroke of 4.250"  - Compression Height (CH) 1.325"  *note you will need a BBC gudgeon pin size
